Enrichment in our Curriculum
Our school operates a very wide range of opportunities within Enrichment and Co-Curricular. These are designed so that our students can engage with and widen their experience of the wider world. We want them to engage with the very best that our world (and beyond !) has to offer. We are aware that in our coastal context many of our students gain huge amounts from trips, visits, and engaging and meeting with other people from every type of background and life experience. We challenge them often to go out of their comfort zone!
Almost every single one of our enrichment opportunities has supported funding from the school for those families that may otherwise not be able to afford this. Family Finance will never be a barrier to experiences and widening cultural capital at Ormiston Rivers.
Enrichment opportunities are also often held in school, we engage with many organisations. Last year this included a visit from a Auschwitz survivor, performances on County Lines and Careers seminars. Most of our faculties provide external visits to key destinations and experiences from ks3 to ks5 both locally, nationally and internationally from Borneo to Maldon!
Next year our international trips will included New York, ski-ing in the Alps, volunteering in Borneo and Amsterdam, as well as our choir tour of Italy. Our national trips will see over 100 students in KS3 climb Snowdon, students visiting the Royal Courts of justice and experiencing a trial recreation that they are part of and Kart racing at Brands Hatch.
Our Young artists take part in many local communities events, our Sports stars compete weekly and our STEM provision is continually growing. Our young gardeners and our volunteers for Just Give our out in our community often competing to make the biggest dfference through findraising or directly helping others.
