Applied Learning Centre
Mrs Cooke, Head of Applied Learning
The Applied Learning Centre provides an alternative pathway to access core GCSE’s and vocational pathway. In our flexible learning environment we recognise the individual needs of our students and support them to achieve their full potential.
This new provision is headed up by Mrs Cooke and is based in our Applied Learning Centre. The individual personal development of our students will be front and centre of our curriculum model. This includes Maths, English, Science, ICT, Child development, Health and Social Care, PE, Engineering and Motor Vehicles. We are also exploring the possibility of Hair and Beauty in the near future. Those students that would benefit from work experience will be assisted in our community to be successful in this. We will source engaging placements that open our students eyes to the working environment.
Mrs Cooke has 2 degrees, the first in Adult Nursing and the second in Special Education Studies. She is currently exploring Phd of Education routes. She teaches Health and Social Care and child development in KS3, 4 and 5. Mrs Cooke ensures our students have the opportunity to be enriched by the wider world, whether that be culturally or in the workplace and has facilitated many trips and adventures. Mrs Cooke loves to jive, explore the world and to spend time with her 2 dogs, 5 terrapins and her her family.
Mrs Cooke is passionate about finding the right pathways to success for our students who find the traditional classroom based model overwhelming. She is always the first to try out new experiences and to encourage others to have a go!
