Wellbeing Support in our Sixth Form

Our vision: At our school and Sixth Form, we believe that a young person who feels happy and looked after will achieve and be successful within their education. Due to this understanding we aim to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for both students, families and staff. We are constantly evolving and adapting our support by listening to the needs of all our stakeholders for the betterment of the Ormiston community.

Throughout 2018-2019 we sought to find out students, staff and parental views on the wellbeing support we have at Rivers Sixth Form and Ormiston Rivers Academy. We then developed an action plan to address concerns and boost the support that already works well. It is important that we all work together so that every person is supported so they can thrive.

If you are a Rivers Sixth Form student and in need of wellbeing support then please speak with anyone in the Rivers Sixth Form Team or ask for your legal guardian to get in touch with them. They are Mrs Wilkins, Miss Sametz, Mrs Head and Miss Marable.

We can also offer the following support:

  • One to one support through your mentor and Head of Sixth Form

  • Drop in access to the Student Support Team in DO6 at break and lunch

  • Drop in access to Mrs Head during non-timetabled lessons in the Sixth Form Office

  • Drop in to the School Nurse Tuesday lunch times in D06

  • School counsellor appointments via the Student Support Assistants Mrs Byford and Mrs Sexton

  • Open Door Policy to Mental Health First Aiders – Miss Goodfellow, Mrs Byford, Mrs Sexton and Miss Marable
