Pupil Premium (PP) 2019/20
Disadvantage should never be a barrier to educational achievement. Ormiston Rivers Academy’s philosophy states that all students, no matter what their background, should receive a world class teaching experience and in turn achieve excellent outcomes. At Ormiston Rivers Academy we use Pupil Premium in a variety of ways to raise aspiration and achievement. This year we have introduced our Pupil Premium Promise which you can download here with our Pupil Premium Overview for this year.
Pupil Premium was initially, allocated funding for students from low-income families who were eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or had been looked after continuously for more than six months. This was extended in 2012 to include students who had been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (FSM Ever 6). A premium has also been introduced for pupils whose parents are currently serving in the Armed Forces. Each secondary FSM Ever 6 eligible student will attract £935 through Pupil Premium.
Schools are free to decide how to spend this additional funding with clear guidance from the government that it should be used to support the learning of this target group of students and to close the attainment gap between these and other students.
20.95% (201 students) of Ormiston Rivers Academy students are eligible as “Ever 6” in this academic year resulting in Pupil Premium funding of £187,935.00 being awarded
