Principal's Blog - 19th March 2021

I am going to keep this week's blog brief as I know so much information has gone out this week, including letters regarding testing and a letter to Year 11-13 regarding the pending summer assessments.

Today we have finished the testing for all students and have completed 2,834 tests over the last two weeks.

Home testing kits have already been given out to Years 10,11,12 & 13 and kits for Years 7, 8 & 9 have been given out today. Testing has been a big time strain which has involved a lot of planning and organisation to successfully complete. A special mention to Mrs Mahoney who has led on this operation but also a special thanks to the staff who have kindly supported, the parents/carers that have volunteered and local volunteers who are part of our community who have supported the last two weeks and last term when we had to test each week for staff and key worker students. I am so proud of what the team has achieved and incredibly impressed with how the students have responded. I don’t think we ever imagined as schools that we would become testing facilities, but as ever we rose to the challenge.

The staff have commented on how brilliantly the students have returned, they continue to strive hard in lessons and it’s been wonderful to hear from my senior leadership team who are walking around daily. This week our students have been involved in anti-bullying ambassador training, some students had the opportunity to be involved in a Stem day plus today, students are in non-uniform to raise money for Comic Relief. Enrichment is still taking place so please do encourage your child to take part as there are a range of activities taking place each week.

Kind regards,

Emma Baker
