Marion Sidebottom a local practising professional artist and photographer is currently leading a series of workshops for a select group of young photographers.
Students with an avid interest in photography from years 7,8 and 9 were chosen to attend the workshops. Workshop 1 was about composition of portraiture, textures and macro Photography. Students worked by using magnifying glasses and crystals to refract and distort image and light.
“I loved it, I really want to study photography as an option or in the sixth form, there's so much to learn”
In the second session students learnt to use Photoshop including the layers and layer styles feature. The trickiest thing was learning 'Workflow'. This means developing an easy way to get the images from whatever camera they were using onto our server or their computers at home.
In the final session students will finish retouching images and collate them for an exhibition in Town and in School.
