Coronavirus update Friday 20th March

As you will no doubt be aware, the Government announced this afternoon that students in Year 11 and Year 13 will definitely not be sitting examinations to achieve their qualifications. Instead the exam regulator Ofqual and the exam boards will work with teachers to provide grades for students. More information can be found by clicking this link: This is certainly the most sensible way to do this. I would imagine that Ofqual will be providing more detail to schools on how this will happen in due course. In terms of next steps, a number of Year 11s have asked our sixth form team about the interviews to get into Sixth Form, which were planned for the next few weeks. Obviously these will be postponed and we will inform parents and students in due course when these will take place. Again, no student will be disadvantaged in getting into our Sixth Form. A form will be shared shortly to our Year 11s with an update on courses for September. Remember, there will be plenty of work to keep your child busy on Google Classroom while we are closed. It is crucial that the students complete as much of this as possible so that they don’t fall behind. Finally, the atmosphere around the school today has been excellent. It is a credit to all of our students just how well they have conducted themselves during these challenging times. We will certainly miss those that are not in school in the coming weeks, but very much look forward to seeing them again soon. I will continue to keep you updated as any developments occur. My very best wishes to you and your family. Mrs Baker
