Dear Parents/Students in Years 11 and 13,
On Wednesday 19th August at 16.30, the exam board responsible for BTEC awards (Pearson), announced that BTEC grades for the subjects below will be void as they are recalculating them following the changes the government has made to how grades should be calculated. They have said that no grade reductions will happen. Prior to this announcement Pearson had published a set of results to us on the morning of 19th August. Any BTEC results that are included in the statement of results that were issued to you this morning should now be disregarded. We will update you with the re-issued results as soon as we receive them.
Subjects affected by the late afternoon announcement on 19th August:
● Travel and Tourism
● Health and Social Care
We appreciate this will cause additional uncertainty for students and I’m truly sorry. However, this is completely out of our control. Pearson’s priority is to ensure fair outcomes for BTEC students in relation to A Levels and GCSEs and that no BTEC student is disadvantaged. If you did not study any of the subjects listed above, this announcement will not affect your results. However, it is important to note, in these uncertain and ever changing times, that all vocational grades are subject to change. We will notify you should they change, but be assured, that there will be no lowering of grades from those which have already been published to you.
