Lunchtime Arrangements (September 2020)

At Ormiston Rivers Academy we strive to provide meals that are both nutritious and enjoyable, with a range of options that will suit everyone's needs. With the current Covid restrictions in place and the "new normal" setting it's own challenges, we have needed to amend our menus to provide a range which students can just "grab & go". Our menus covering the period up to October half term are attached. In addition to the items detailed we also have a range of cold baguettes, pastas, wraps plus fruit and a selection of drinks. We also have specials which will be shown on the board near each catering outlet. Items on the menu may be substituted at short notice due to stock availability and receipt of deliveries.

We welcome feedback on our catering provision. If you have any suggestions as to alternatives that your child may prefer to eat whilst at school please e-mail [email protected], taking into consideration the current restrictions and how this affects our ability to provide our normal range of cooked options.

General Points:

  • Students are not permitted to leave the Academy premises during lunchtime.

  • The Academy uses a cashless catering system; wherever possible students should be registered with a biometric algorithm of their thumbprint. Should the Academy not receive consent to do this a pin will be issued which students must remember and use whenever they wish to purchase food.

  • Parents must set up a “Parentpay” account and ensure that there are sufficient funds available to cover the cost of student’s lunches/snacks. This can be done online or by using a “Paypoint” card at local stores. Paypoint cards cost £1.50 and must be requested from the Academy. If you have not received an activation letter or require a Paypoint card please contact Mrs Mahoney at the Academy via e-mail: [email protected] or on 01621 787823.

  • When students leave the Academy the balance on their Parentpay account can either be refunded or transferred to a younger sibling at the Academy. The minimum refund amount is £5.00, smaller amounts will be transferred to the school fund.

Your child may be able to get free school meals if you receive any of the following:

  • Income Support or income-based Jobseekers Allowance

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit

  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more that £16,190)

  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

  • Universal credit.
