Our KS4 Curriculum
Years 9,10 & 11
In Year 9 students continue a core curriculum, and start some of the options which will lead to examinations in Years 10 and 11. Options often start with a skills development course in the first part of Year 9 before commencing their actual GCSE programmes of study during the year. The vast majority of public examinations are undertaken at the end of Year 11.
All students take GCSEs in:
Science (the majority will take Combined Science: some take a Triple Science Option in Biology, Physics and Chemistry)
In addition they have lessons in Physical Education.
The Citizenship aspects of the curriculum are tracked by the Head of Religious Studies as part of her whole school brief to ensure all students make progress; the provision of ICT and Computing is tracked by the Head of ICT as part of her whole school brief to ensure all students make progress.
Option Choices include the following:
Humanities (either History or Geography) and modern foreign languages, currently French.
Other choices which include a range of technology, arts and vocational subjects, including: Child Care, Art, Hospitality & Catering, Engineering, Events Operations, Performing Arts, Music Performance and Music Technology, Media Studies, ICT, Health & Social Care, Health & Fitness.
