Our Trust's Welcome
Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) is one of the largest not-for-profit multi-academy trusts in England. We educate 29,000 pupils across six English regions, in 30 secondary schools, seven primary schools and one special school. We are one of the longest established trusts and have been sponsoring academies since 2009. Our mission is to become the Trust that makes the biggest difference, both inside and outside the classroom.
Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) is one of the largest not-for-profit multi-academy trusts in England. Multi-academy trusts are charities that run schools to give local children a great education. We educate 29,000 pupils across six English regions, in 30 secondary schools, seven primary schools and one special school.
We are one of the longest established Trusts and have been sponsoring academies since 2009. Our mission is to become the Trust that makes the biggest difference, both inside and outside the classroom.
When we think about what kind of difference we want to make, this is defined by our three core purposes, which are to teach and develop our pupils, while we effect change so that we can create schools where no one is disadvantaged.
Our very first school was sponsored by Ormiston Trust, a national charity formed in 1969. Ormiston Trust was founded with a view to improving the life chances of young people. This philanthropic principle informs all of our work and has been the foundation for the ongoing success achieved across our academy network.
Ormiston Trust continues to invest grant-funding in our schools in many areas.
In January 2019, our Board of Trustees agreed a five-year strategy for OAT. This strategy sets out our mission, values, core purposes and priorities for change.
Our mission is to become the Trust that makes the biggest difference, both inside and outside the classroom.
We are a values-led organisation, and it is our aim that we continually challenge ourselves to adhere to the spirit of our values:
Anyone can excel
Enjoy the challenge
Share what is best
Our vision and values
Our vision is for all young people to have the highest academic, social and practical skills to allow them to lead a fulfilling life. We are determined to become the Trust that makes the biggest difference. OAT academies share the Ormiston Academies Trust ethos of ensuring every child reaches their full potential; being aspirational and committed to academic excellence and being supportive yet courageous in our approach. The principles that lead to our academies' success are not complicated:
It's about courage – addressing the challenge where it’s not being addressed.
It's about aspiration – no ‘can’t’ or ‘won’t’. There’s no place for excuses when a child’s future is at stake.
It's about culture – insistence on the highest standards of performance and behaviour, without exception.
That goes for teachers and students.
It's about great leadership and finding the best teachers.
To achieve our vision, we aim to create outstanding, non-selective local academies, which give young people from all backgrounds the opportunity to succeed, build on their strengths and share their skills to make things better.
Our work is informed by the following values:
Excellence: supporting young people to fulfil their individual potential.
Inclusion: responding to the individual needs of all students, whatever their background or ability.
Enjoyment: stimulating curiosity and make learning fun.
Collaboration: working in partnership to address local needs and build support for education
