The Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award, known as iDEA is an international programme that helps you develop digital, enterprise and employability skills for free and is run by Mrs Gibson (dgibson@ormistonriversacademy.co.uk)

Through a series of online challenges, you can win career-enhancing badges, unlock new opportunities and, ultimately, gain industry-recognised Awards that help you stand out from the crowd:

iDEA is an international programme aiming to help address the digital skills gap. The programme provides free digital skills education in the form of engaging online modules (badges). The iDEA curriculum has been curated to help inspire people all over the world to become Digital Citizens, Workers, Makers, Entrepreneurs and Gamers to enhance their employability; and to help them become economically active.

iDEA is a blended learning approach that aspires to be a digital and enterprise equivalent of The Duke of Edinburgh Award. Participants take on a series of challenges that earn them points which aggregate towards their Bronze, Silver or Gold Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award.

iDEA’s different learning categories (Citizen, Worker, Maker, Entrepreneur and Gamer) cover topics as diverse as cyber security, cloud computing and e-safety; and animation, growth hacking, customer relationship management and web development. All the digital badges are short modules which can be completed anywhere a learner can be online.

iDEA badges are interactive online modules, created in consultation with industry experts that you can access for free, on any device, anywhere in the world. They vary in length and difficulty and iDEA has a huge range of badges you can choose from, just pick one that interests you and get started.

iDEA can help you...

  • Enhance your skills and knowledge

  • Improve your digital literacy

  • Learn about staying safe online

  • Discover talents you didn’t know you had

  • Get more confident with technology

Please note this is not just for students, parents can sign up and can earn badges too!

Virtual Tours

In the time we're living in, these digital perks are more important than ever. Last year Google Earth rolled out virtual tours of some of the most breathtaking parks in the country. The map and satellite imagery masters at Google Earth have put together a series of guided virtual tours of 31 national parks around the country, providing a stunning glimpse of the trails and vistas you can take advantage of if you visit them in real life. It may not be the same as lacing up your hiking boots and inhaling the crisp clean air of the wilderness, but they're pretty neat nonetheless.
