Parent Forum

  • The Parent Forum is a new initiative, introduced in the Autumn term of 2013. It is an opportunity for a representative group of parents / carers to meet on a regular basis to discuss a range of Academy issues and to offer advice and opinions. It is also a genuine attempt to continue to seek the views of parents and develop a stronger partnership by improving understanding through communication and consultation.

Aims and objectives:

  • To promote partnership between the Academy, its students and all its parents.
  • To develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of students.
  • To ascertain the views of parents on the education provided by the Academy and other matters affecting the education and welfare of all students.
  • To raise the Academy’s profile.
  • To help parents gain knowledge and confidence that will in turn help them support their childern’s education.
  • To act as a link with the local community
  • To involve parents in the life of the Academy.

Membership of the Parent Forum:

Membership of the Forum is open to all parents / carers with a child enrolled at the Academy and who express an interest in becoming a member.

Meetings will normally take place at least once every half-term. Dates and times to be confirmed.

Content of meetings:

There will usually be three main items:

  • Mr Adady, representing the Academy, will always present a brief report, which will give an overview of key events / issues and plan the agenda in consultation with the Principal, Ms Costello, and members of the Forum.
  • The main section of the meeting will be a discussion of issues which have been proposed by the Academy for the agenda. These items will normally be agreed at the previous meeting. However, there will be an opportunity for parents to submit additional items for discussion.
  • Mr Adady will invite members of the Forum to take an active part in current events and activities. Other members of the Senior Leadership Team and staff / governors may occasionally attend the Forum if this is requested / appropriate.
