Academy Awarded Bronze Certificate by the Incorporated Society of Musicians

ISM Bronze
Ormiston Rivers Academy has been awarded the ISM /┬áISM Trust’s Bronze Certificate. Deborah Annetts, Chief Executive of ISM – the professional body for musicians – congratulated the academy, saying, “We are delighted to recognise Ormiston Rivers Academy’s achievement in music and celebrate the commitment to music education shown by the Academy in their high uptake and achievement of pupils”.

“Music is a valuable subject, it brings value in itself to pupils as well as supporting achievement in other subjects. Music also . opens doors and generates educational opportunities for pupils from all backgrounds. We are delighted that Ormiston Rivers Academy values music within their school curriculum and as a professional body for musicians and a subject association for music education, we are delighted to recognise this high level of achievement with this certificate”.

Sandra Carroll, Head of Performing Arts added, “We are delighted to champion the value and importance of music in education by offering and delivering music at the highest standards in Ormiston Rivers Academy. We are pleased to be able to offer a range of music qualifications at key stage 4, to suit all students aspiring to work in the music industry from music performance, to music theory and technology. Students who have studied music with us have progressed to degrees at the University of West London, Goldsmiths University, University of Essex, University of Kent amongst others, forging careers in teaching, performance and musical direction in London’s West End. We will continue to champion music and the arts at the Academy”.
